Oil and Gas Onshore

A person in a safety helmet and high-visibility vest inspects an industrial oil pump site with complex piping, using a digital tablet during golden hour.

Our partnerships in the oil and gas onshore space have lasted decades because Metallus customers trust the reliability, consistent high quality, and superior performance of our products.

We actively participate in the American Petroleum Institute (API) to ensure that our processing stays current as the market evolves. Our team members are intent on solving customers’ technical challenges.

Why Metallus?

Quench-and-temper capabilities at facilities like our state-of-the-art Advanced Quench & Temper Facility (AQTF) allow us to manufacture and process products to our customers’ specifications.

Applications

Our clean, reliably produced steel strengthens applications throughout the oil and gas onshore market, including those featured below.

Accessory Parts

Metallus accessory parts adhere to the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) 5CT acceptance criteria, which is verified by our quality and testing facilities. Our distribution customers and network provide a critical component to the commercialization of these products. Metallus offers all of the API 5CT grades (K55, L80, T95, P110, C110, and Q125).

Grades of Steel: 4130, 4140, and a full portfolio of API grades depending on mechanical properties, size, etc.

Coupling

Metallus provides seamless mechanical tubing to service the semi-premium and premium connection market space by supplying coupling stock to connect the most critical casing strings. Depending on the wall size and grade needed, Metallus offers a variety of chemistries.

Grades of Steel: 4130, 4140, 4130ModSS, Impact 7, and a full portfolio of API grades depending on mechanical properties, size, etc.

Rotor Bars

Metallus applied our trademark microalloy technology to offer MicroTec4M95 for rotor bars, which are critical for moving fluid through the systems and do not shatter or break. MicroTec4M95 is a reliable, cost-effective solution for rotor bars within progressive cavity pumps and has improved machinability, meets all mechanical properties, and requires fewer heat treat operations.

Drill Collars

Metallus is the leading domestic supplier of drill collar material, which allows us to service the market space with a robust supply chain and channel to market. We developed the 4145HSX chemistry to consistently adhere to the increased mechanical property requirements in the industry as the depth and torque forces of drilling also increased.

Grade of Steel: 4145HSX
